Like all providers of personal financial services, we are required by law to inform clients of their policy regarding privacy of client information. In fact, we are bound by professional standards of confidentiality that are even more stringent. Therefore, we have always protected your right to privacy.
We collect nonpublic personal information about you that is either provided to us by you or that we obtain with your authorization.
For current and former clients, we do not disclose any nonpublic personal information obtained in the course of doing our work except as required or permitted by law. Permitted disclosures include, for instance, providing info to our employees and in limited situations, to unrelated third parties who need to know that information to assist us in providing services to you. In all such situations, we stress the need for confidentiality of the information being shared. We will obtain signed written consents from you for any disclosure or use of your tax return information as required by the IRS.
From time to time you may request us to provide data to third parties. In such instances we will require you to provide us with written authorization. A more expedient way to handle such matters is for us to forward the data to you and for you to forward it to third parties. Financial institutions often request us to certify data in connection with your tax returns (particularly if you are self-employed). As you are aware, we do not perform an audit of your tax returns and are not in a position to certify data in your return. Therefore, if you become aware that a bank will request attestation or certification from us, you should point out that we cannot and will not respond to such a request.
We retain records relating to professional services that have been provided so that we are better able to assist you with your professional needs and, in some cases to comply with professional guidelines as well as legal requirements. In order to guard your nonpublic personal information, we maintain physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards that comply with professional standards.
Please call if you have any questions, because your privacy, our professional ethics, and the ability to provide you with quality financial services are very important to us.
